Jazz Duo

During the spring corona-lockdown 2020, Stefanie Tornow, jazz singer from Munich and Beat Baumli, jazz guitar player from Baden (Switzerland) met on the live music platform jamkazam and spent countless hours playing music until the borders between the countries reopened. In the meantime the chance acquaintance turned into a unique, elegant sounding duo with a lot of verve, which has successfully presented itself on various stages in Germany and Switzerland, and released the debut cd "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes"

The two musicians can be booked as duo, trio or quartet for concerts and events of all sorts, concerts as well as background functions, public and private, also on very short notice .

Musicians

Stefanie Tornow (vocals) is a demanded singer in and around Munich, where she has been performing for many years in bands like the Munich Jazz Agents or the trio Note Azure. Already as a child she greatly admired Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Both of them had strong influences on her own vocal style. Two CD productions and concerts with her own bands as well as guest appearances in bands in Germany and abroad provide her with many fans and followers.

Beat Baumli (guitar/loop) studied initially at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern and afterwards at Berklee College Of Music in Boston (USA). He's been with with numerous bands since the 1980's, providing them with his services as guitarist, arranger and composer. Large numbers of gigs in clubs, festivals as well as on private events have had an impact on his refined way of playing. His music is regularly featured on radio. In 2015 he was nominated for the Swiss Jazz Award with his B.B. & J.M. Trio.

STEFANIE ABOUT BEAT: From the beginning i was impressed by Beat's fine and multifaceted playing, paired with his deeply in jazztradition rooted, energetic and rhythmically intriguing approach. These characteristics make him a unique guitarist and for me the perfect accompanist .

BEAT ABOUT STEFANIE: There are not many singers who can sing with such an effortless beauty like Stefanie. Her immense talent in combination with the beautiful voice give me much pleasure to accompany her with my guitar.
